ESCRIP
eScrip is a program where retailers and schools connect to drive contributions from purchases to participating schools. We are one of those schools and when each of us individually registers with eScrip, a percentage of our purchases go directly to Commodore Sloat.
Returning families who have registered with escrip, please go in and re-register your cards. This must be done annually. Thank you!
Follow these simple steps to get started:
TO REGISTER:
Click here to register: https://secure.escrip.com/jsp/supporter/registration/step1.jsp
- For the field "Group Name" enter "Commodore Sloat" and then be sure to select "Commodore Sloat Elementary School".
- On page 3, enter the number on your Safeway Club card (not your phone number), if you don't have one, skip this page.
- On page 4, enter your credit and debit card numbers if you wish (this is where Commodore Sloat gets contributions from your online purchases).
You're done!
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Don't let all of the information below scare you away. Once you register your cards, you simply use them as you normally do and Sloat starts to get a percentage of your purchases from participating retailers. This information simply lets you know how Commodore Sloat gets the most bang for your buck.
Online purchases:

- There are some really great online stores that participate and give high percentages of purchases back to our school including Land of Nod (4.8%), Amazon (2.4%), Restaurant.com (16.8%), Kodak Gallery (9%), Nordstrom (7.2%), Peet's Coffee (6%), J.Crew (6%), Groupon (6%) and hundreds more.
One caveat - you either need to visit these stores through the escrip site, or download the "AutoEARN" browser plug-in through the escrip site. With AutoEARN, you can go directly to the retail sites (and not have to log-in to escrip first to get the credit). Once downloaded, there is button that sits at the top left of your browser window that will prompt you to click it during the ordering process and will automatically add the escrip code.
Restaurants:
When you register your credit cards for escrip and use those cards at participating restaurants, 2.5 percent of your bill (tip included) goes back to Commodore Sloat. When you write a review for the restaurant you dined at through the escrip platform you get another 2.5 percent of your bill donated to the school (escrip will send you an email asking for a review).

Safeway card:
Every time you use your Safeway rewards card when making purchases, a percentage of your purchase goes to Commodore Sloat. The more you spend each month, the higher the percentage returned to the school. Just remember to register your Club Card # in order for that to happen!
ONECAUSE
Formerly called SchoolPop, this is a web site that allows you to donate a portion of the cost of some of your online purchases to Commodore Sloat. Similar to eScrip, there are a number of merchants that participate. You register with OneCause and then any time you make an online purchase from one of those merchants, Commodore Sloat automatically gets a percentage. BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Save those Boxtops coupons you see on the tops of many different products: Ziplock bags, General Mills cereals, Cottonelle wipes, Gogurt, and Bisquick, just to name a few. Each product has a coupon somewhere on the package. Clip the coupons and send them in to school with your child in a baggie. We have contests periodically, with fun prizes like popcicle parties or books for the classroom. Check out their web site.
TARGET VISA
You can designate Commodore Sloat School as the beneficiary of a percentage of all sales when you use your Target Visa at Target. Check out their web site.
RESTAURANT FUNDRAISERS
Once a year, Chevy's and Pasta Pomodoro each sponsor an evening where, if you present a coupon, they'll donate a percentage of the total ticket to Sloat. Sure, it raises money for the school, but it's also a huge party. So all you have to do is take the family out to dinner!
TONER RECYCLING
Save your used toner cartridges and bring them to school. Sloat can redeem them for cash! |
